Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited has announced 52 Engineer and Geologist posts at the E1 level.

The vacancies cover Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering and Geology. Moreover, the basic pay scale is ₹60,000–₹1,80,000.

ONGC will use a Computer-Based Test, an interview and a medical test for selection. According to the current plan, the CBT may take place on 6 September 2026.

However, applicants should check the official portal for any later update.

The notice came out on 17 July 2026. Meanwhile, online registration also began on the same day.

The form, editing window and fee payment close on 31 July 2026. Therefore, applicants should finish every step before 11:59 pm.

Form printing remains open until 15 August 2026. Finally, ONGC may hold the CBT on 6 September 2026.

Candidates should apply early. Otherwise, heavy traffic or a payment error may stop them from finishing the form.

ONGC has divided 52 posts across five streams. Among them, Mechanical Engineering has the largest share with 27 posts.

Petroleum Engineering has 9 posts. By comparison, Chemical Engineering has 10 posts.

Instrumentation Engineering has 2 openings. Meanwhile, Geology has 4 posts.

A Petroleum Engineering graduate can compete for all nine posts in that stream. However, an Applied Petroleum Engineering graduate can compete for only seven posts.

These seven posts include three UR, two OBC-NCL, one SC and one EWS vacancy. Therefore, applicants should choose the correct degree in the form.

An approved body such as UGC, AICTE or AIU must recognise the degree. Likewise, the Central Government must accept a distance or part-time degree for jobs.

ONGC will not treat every similar degree as equal. For example, AMIE does not qualify when the post asks for an engineering degree.

Applicants with CGPA, OGPA, CPI or DGPA must convert the grade into a percentage. In this case, they should use their university’s official formula.

If the university gives no formula, divide the grade by the highest scale. Then, multiply the result by 100.

The company may ask for proof of this conversion. Moreover, B.E. or B.Tech in Chemical Sciences and Technology does not qualify for Chemical Engineering posts.

ONGC will count age on 31 July 2026. However, the age limit changes by category and stream.

UR and EWS candidates can be up to 26 years old for Engineering and 27 years old for Geology. Meanwhile, OBC-NCL candidates can be up to 29 years old for Engineering and 30 years old for Geology.

SC and ST candidates can be up to 31 years old for Engineering and 32 years old for Geology. In addition, PwBD candidates receive a higher age limit according to their category.

General or EWS PwBD candidates can be up to 36 years old for Engineering and 37 years old for Geology. Similarly, OBC-NCL PwBD candidates can be up to 39 years old for Engineering and 40 years old for Geology.

SC or ST PwBD candidates can be up to 41 years old for Engineering and 42 years old for Geology. Finally, ex-servicemen can be up to 31 years old for Engineering and 32 years old for Geology.

ONGC staff may get age relief based on category and service. Besides, the company may also consider the length of service.

Reserved-category applicants need valid certificates. In particular, OBC-NCL candidates need a certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026.

The caste name must match the Central List. Likewise, EWS applicants need an Income and Asset Certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026.

SC, ST, OBC-NCL and PwBD papers must follow the Government of India format. Moreover, applicants must show these documents during verification or the interview.

ONGC will normally not allow a category change after submission. Also, reserved applicants who seek an open post must meet the UR rules.

General, OBC-NCL and EWS applicants must pay ₹1,000. On the other hand, SC, ST and PwBD applicants do not need to pay a fee.

The amount does not include bank charges, service fees or GST. Moreover, candidates must make the payment online.

ONGC will not refund the fee after payment. However, eligible staff members may get the amount back under company rules.

The selection process has three stages.

First, applicants must take the Computer-Based Test. Next, shortlisted people will attend a personal interview.

Finally, successful candidates must clear the medical test.

ONGC will normally call people in a 1:5 ratio based on CBT marks. However, everyone with the same cut-off score may receive an interview call.

The company may also hold a group discussion. Nevertheless, that stage will not add marks to the final result.

The CBT carries 85 marks, while the interview carries 15 marks. Therefore, ONGC will combine both scores to prepare the final list.

General, EWS and OBC-NCL candidates need at least 45% in the CBT. In contrast, SC, ST and PwBD candidates need 40%.

For the interview, the first group needs 9 out of 15 marks. Meanwhile, SC, ST and PwBD applicants need 6 out of 15.

The CBT will contain 85 multiple-choice questions. Applicants will get two hours to finish the paper.

The technical part will match the stream chosen in the form. Therefore, applicants should spend more time on that section.

There is no negative marking. Also, eligible PwBD candidates may get 20 extra minutes per hour.

A scribe may be available under the stated rules. If ONGC holds the test in several shifts, it may adjust the scores to keep the result fair.

The CBT may take place in Delhi-NCR, Kolkata, Mumbai region, Chennai, Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Udaipur and Mohali.

Other centres include Nagpur, Bhopal, Bengaluru, Ernakulam, Raipur, Surat, Lucknow, Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar.

Applicants must choose a preferred centre in the form. However, ONGC may add, remove or change centres for official reasons.

After final submission, no centre change will be allowed. Therefore, review the choice carefully.

ONGC will appoint successful candidates at the E1 level. The basic pay scale is ₹60,000–₹1,80,000.

Moreover, the yearly pay rise is 3%. The cafeteria allowance is 35% of basic pay.

In addition, the approximate annual CTC is ₹26 lakh. Selected employees may also get Dearness Allowance, housing support and a Provident Fund.

Other benefits may include leave payment, performance pay, medical care and gratuity. Besides, ONGC offers benefits after retirement under its rules.

The company may post new employees anywhere in India or abroad. Therefore, applicants should be ready to move if selected.

Before starting the form, keep an active mobile number and email address ready. Also, prepare a passport-size photo, scanned signature and Class 10 certificate.

Applicants will need the degree certificate and all mark sheets. In addition, they should keep a photo ID, PAN card and category certificate ready.

Then, create a new registration and enter your mobile number and email address. After that, complete the OTP check.

Fill in your personal and education details. Also, choose one eligible stream.

Upload the photograph, signature and certificates. Next, pay the fee when required.

Review every field carefully. Finally, submit the form and save the registration slip.

ONGC accepts online forms only. Therefore, do not send the application by post or email.

Submit one form only. If a person sends more than one application, ONGC will consider the latest complete form.

After final submission, the portal will not allow changes. As a result, applicants should check every field before sending the form.

ONGC will upload CBT and interview call letters on its recruitment portal. Therefore, applicants must download and print them online.

The company will not send printed copies by post. As a result, check the portal and email account regularly.

Keep the registered email address and mobile number active for at least one year. Also, remember to check the spam folder.

ONGC will combine the CBT and interview marks to prepare the merit list. Only people who pass the interview can move to the medical stage.

When two applicants receive the same total marks, the person with higher CBT marks will rank first. If the CBT marks are also equal, the older candidate will receive the higher rank.

However, a medical test call does not guarantee a job. ONGC will issue an appointment letter only after the candidate clears the medical test.

SC, ST and PwBD applicants may get second-class return train fare for the CBT when they live outside the test city.

Similarly, people attending a physical interview may get travel support. ONGC will pay the shortest-route fare or the actual fare, whichever is lower.

However, the company will not provide travel support for an online interview.

Applicants must meet ONGC’s medical rules. Complete or partial colour blindness and night blindness are not allowed for these posts.

The limit for short-sightedness, including cylinder power, is −4.00 D. Similarly, the limit for long-sightedness is +4.00 D.

Contact lenses or eye implants may be allowed when the person meets all other rules. Moreover, PwBD applicants must meet every medical rule that does not relate to their approved disability.

Enter only correct details because ONGC will check the original papers. Also, keep all certificates ready for document checks.

Government and PSU staff need a No Objection Certificate. However, employed applicants should not resign before ONGC declares them medically fit.

No stream or centre change will be allowed after submission. Therefore, review every field before sending the form.

Trust only official ONGC updates. Finally, never pay anyone more than the official application fee.
