Aadhaar Requirement for Prayagraj PET
RRC Prayagraj instructed candidates to carry their original Aadhaar card for identity verification and Aadhaar-based biometric authentication.
A photocopy alone may not meet the identification requirement. Therefore, candidates attending a future block date or related recruitment activity should read their call-letter instructions carefully.

RRB Group D Physical Test Criteria 2026
The RRB Group D Physical Efficiency Test includes two activities:
- Weight carrying
- Running
Candidates must complete both activities within the prescribed time. Each activity provides only one chance.
| Candidate category | Weight-carrying requirement | Running requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Male candidates | Carry 35 kg for 100 metres within 2 minutes without putting the weight down | Run 1,000 metres within 4 minutes 15 seconds |
| Female candidates | Carry 20 kg for 100 metres within 2 minutes without putting the weight down | Run 1,000 metres within 5 minutes 40 seconds |
| Transgender candidates | Same criteria as female candidates | Same criteria as female candidates |
These requirements come from Paragraph 14.2 of the detailed CEN No. 08/2024 notification.
How Is the RRB Group D PET Conducted?
The weight-carrying activity takes place first.
Candidates must lift a sandbag without a handle from a bench or platform placed around waist height. They may carry it in a suitable manner, but they must keep the bag above the ground until they reach the finishing point.
Candidates who complete this activity successfully receive a recovery gap before the running test.
However, candidates who fail the weight-carrying activity are eliminated immediately and cannot participate in the run.
Is RRB Group D PET Qualifying?
Yes. The RRB Group D Physical Efficiency Test is qualifying in nature.
Candidates do not receive extra merit marks for finishing faster than the prescribed limit. Instead, they must meet the minimum criteria in both activities.
Failure in either activity normally disqualifies the candidate from the subsequent recruitment stages.
Who Is Exempted from RRB Group D PET?
The following categories are exempted from appearing in the Physical Efficiency Test:
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities
- Eligible ex-servicemen
- Course Completed Act Apprentices trained in railway establishments
Although these candidates do not need to appear for PET, they must meet the medical, eligibility and other standards applicable to their category and post.
PET Rule for Pregnant Candidates
Female candidates must submit a self-declaration regarding their pregnancy status when reporting for PET.
When a candidate declares that she is pregnant, the authorities may conduct a confirmatory pregnancy test. A confirmed pregnant candidate will be treated as temporarily unfit for the physical test.
The railway may keep the relevant vacancy reserved and allow the candidate to take PET six weeks after childbirth, subject to the production of a fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
RRB Group D PET Admit Card 2026
The RRB Group D PET Admit Card 2026, also called the e-call letter, is released separately by the relevant Railway Recruitment Cell.

Medical Fitness and Candidate Responsibility
Candidates must ensure that they are physically and medically fit enough to attempt the physical test.
The official recruitment notification states that Railways will not accept responsibility for injury or harm suffered by a candidate while participating in PET. Therefore, candidates should avoid unsafe training methods and should seek medical advice when necessary.
What Happens After RRB Group D PET?
Candidates who qualify in the physical test become eligible for the remaining stages, subject to CBT merit and the recruitment rules.
Document Verification
Railways normally shortlist candidates for Document Verification in a 1:1 ratio against the notified vacancies.
During verification, candidates must present original certificates related to:
- Educational qualification
- Date of birth
- Identity
- Category or community
- Disability status, where applicable
- Ex-serviceman status, where applicable
- Railway apprenticeship, where applicable
- Other eligibility claims
Being called for Document Verification does not guarantee appointment. The RRC can cancel candidature when documents do not support the information submitted in the application.
Medical Examination
After Document Verification, shortlisted candidates must pass the medical fitness test prescribed for their allotted post.
Medical standards differ according to the duties and requirements of each Level 1 post. Therefore, passing PET alone does not guarantee final selection.
RRB Group D Selection Process
The standard recruitment sequence is:
Computer-Based Test → Physical Efficiency Test → Document Verification → Medical Examination → Final Empanelment
Final appointment depends on CBT merit, PET qualification, document authenticity, medical fitness, available vacancies and fulfilment of all eligibility conditions.
