 Israel Strikes Iran’s Nuclear Heartland

In an unprecedented escalation, Israel launched a large-scale military operation across Iran on Friday, directly targeting key nuclear facilities and top military officials. The assault, referred to as “Operation Rising Lion”, comes amid increasing tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Key Targets Hit: Tehran, Natanz & More

Explosions shook Tehran around 3:30 AM local time, with multiple sites, including residential areas, reported damaged. The Natanz nuclear enrichment facility, a critical site in Iran’s nuclear network, was among those struck.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed strikes on “dozens of military targets,” citing success in severely damaging Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

Who Were the Key Figures Killed?

The Israeli strikes claimed the lives of several top Iranian military and nuclear officials:

  • Hossein Salami– Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)
  • Gholamali Rashid– Head of Khatam-al Anbiya Central HQ
  • Mohammad Bagheri– Chief of Iran’s Armed Forces
  • Amir Ali Hajizadeh– IRGC Aerospace Commander

Additionally, six nuclear scientists reportedly died, including Fereydoon Abbasi, former head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization.

Iran Responds: “A Declaration of War”

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed severe retaliation, calling the attack a “declaration of war.” In response, Iran launched over 100 drones toward Israel, though IDF claims successful interception.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi asserted that Iran would defend its sovereignty “with full strength.”

Global Reactions: Urgent Calls for De-escalation

The international community responded swiftly:

  • UN called for “maximum restraint.”
  • China, France, UK, Turkey, and others condemned the escalation.
  • Omanand Saudi Arabia warned of regional instability.
  • US President Donald Trump stated he was aware of the operation but emphasized that the United States was not involved.

Trump added a stark message, urging Iran to “make a deal before it’s too late.”

Iran’s Nuclear Ambitions Under Global Scrutiny

Though Iran insists its nuclear programme is for peaceful energy and research, the IAEA and several world powers remain unconvinced. Recent reports revealed uranium enrichment levels close to weapons-grade purity — enough for several nuclear warheads.

This week, the IAEA formally declared Iran in breach of its non-proliferation obligations for the first time in two decades.

What’s Next?

As both nations brace for potential retaliation, the risk of a full-scale regional conflict looms. With diplomatic efforts hanging by a thread and military tensions at an all-time high, the coming days will be critical for global peace and nuclear safety.

Future Prospect

Israel’s unprecedented strikes on Iran mark a turning point in Middle East geopolitics. While the world urges calm, the road ahead is uncertain. The consequences of these developments will shape nuclear diplomacy and regional stability for years to come.
