Home » Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025: Empowering Indian Farmers for a Sustainable Future

The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is a nationwide agricultural initiative launched by the Government of India to revolutionize farming practices and empower farmers. Scheduled from 29th May to 12th June 2025, this 15-day campaign will cover multiple states, reaching out to nearly 1.5 crore farmers across 700+ districts.

Campaign Objectives

The primary aim of this mission is to Educate farmers about modern agricultural technologies. Also promote awareness of government schemes and agri-policies and Train farmers on the effective use of Soil Health Cards for crop planning and balanced fertilizer usage. This campaign bridges the gap between advanced research and grassroots-level implementation, ensuring farmers benefit directly from new developments in agriculture.

Implementation Plan

The campaign will be flagged off from Puri, Odisha, and cover nearly 20 Indian states, including:

  • Jammu & Kashmir
  • Rajasthan
  • Gujarat
  • Tamil Nadu

Key implementation partners include the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and various state governments. Scientific teams and agricultural experts will travel across regions, directly interacting with farmers to share best practices.

Target Audience

  • 5 crore farmers
  • Agricultural officers and state department officials
  • Scientists from 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and 113 ICAR institutes
  • Progressive and innovative farmers across India

This extensive network ensures localized outreach and effective dissemination of knowledge.

During the campaign, farmers will gain insights into:

  • Vegetable research and improved crop varieties
  • Climate-resilient farming techniques
  • Water-saving and soil conservation methods
  • Integrated pest and disease management
  • Adoption of nutrition gardens for household food security
  • Adapting to climate change in agriculture

These topics are designed to help farmers boost productivity while maintaining ecological balance.

Post-Harvest Management: A Core Concern

One of the critical aspects of the campaign is post-harvest loss reduction. Farmers will be educated on:

  • Zero energy cool chambers for crop storage
  • Affordable and effective packaging solutions
  • Techniques to reduce spoilage and wastage, especially in vegetables

Reducing post-harvest losses can significantly increase farmers’ income and improve market efficiency.

Data Collection & Feedback

The campaign will also collect real-time feedback and field data from farmers. This information will be analysed to Identify regional challenges, Tailor future government programs and Guide agricultural research to align with farmer needs. This approach ensures that innovation is grounded in reality and responds directly to on-the-ground issues.

🇮🇳 A Vision for a Viksit Bharat by 2047

The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Lab to Land”. It is a step towards building a developed agricultural sector and achieving the national goal of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.

By empowering farmers, the campaign highlights their role as pillars of food security, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.

Conclusion
