Major Battles Fought by Rana Sanga

  1. Battle of Khatoli (1517)
  • Opponent : Ibrahim Lodi (Delhi Sultanate).
  • Outcome:    Rana Sanga’s victory boosted Rajput dominance in North India.                                                                                                                                   Lost an arm and a leg but continued fighting.
  1. Battle of Dholpur (1519)
  • Opponent : Ibrahim Lodi (again, with Malwa’s support).
  • Outcome : Defeated the combined forces of Lodi and Malwa.                                                                                                                                                             Secured Mewar’s position as a rising power.

3.  Battle of Idar (1520)

  • Opponent : Sultan of Gujarat, Malik Hussain.
  • Outcome:   Sanga crushed Gujarat’s army and captured significant wealth.                                                                                                                                      Strengthened Rajput influence in Gujarat.

4. Battle of Gagron (1520)

  • Opponent : Mahmud Khilji II (Malwa), with Gujarat’s support.
  • Outcome:  Rajputs used surprise attacks to win.                                                                                                                                                                                    Captured Mahmud Khilji but treated him with honor.

5. Battle of Bayana (1527)

  • Opponent : Babur (Mughal Empire).
  • Outcome:  Sanga’s army crushed Babur’s forces in an early battle.                                                                                                                                                     Demonstrated Rajput strength against foreign invaders.

  • Outcome :  Rajputs fought bravely but were overpowered by Babur’s modern warfare.                                                                                                                  The loss weakened Rajput power, allowing Mughals to expand in India.
