Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed the Senior Secondary or Class 12 examination in Arts, Science or Commerce from the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education.

An applicant may also qualify with:

• An equivalent examination recognised by the Rajasthan Government
• A recognised qualification higher than Senior Secondary
• Senior Secondary with Computer Science as an optional subject

Language Requirements

Every candidate must possess:

• Good working knowledge of Hindi written in the Devanagari script
• Knowledge of Rajasthani dialects
• Hindi or English shorthand skills for the selected post

Applicants choosing an English post must appear for the English Shorthand Test. Similarly, candidates applying for Hindi posts must take the Hindi Shorthand Test.

Required Computer Qualification

Applicants must possess at least one of these recognised qualifications:

• DOEACC or NIELIT “O” Level Certificate
• A certificate higher than NIELIT “O” Level
• Computer Operator and Programming Assistant certificate
• Data Preparation and Computer Software certificate
• COPA or DPCS qualification under NCVT or SCVT
• Diploma in Computer Science
• Diploma in Computer Applications
• Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering from a recognised polytechnic
• Rajasthan State Certificate in Information Technology, commonly known as RSCIT
• Senior Secondary with Computer Science as an optional subject
• Any equivalent or higher computer qualification

The computer certificate must come from a recognised institution or authority.

Nationality

A candidate must be:

• A citizen of India
• A subject of Nepal
• A subject of Bhutan

Applicants from Nepal or Bhutan must possess the eligibility certificate prescribed by the Government of India.

Physical Fitness

Candidates must be mentally and physically fit to perform stenographer duties. After selection, they may need to submit a fitness certificate from a recognised medical authority.

The selection process includes:

1. Hindi or English Shorthand Test
2. Computer Speed Test
3. Computer Efficiency Test

Candidates must pass the Shorthand Test for their selected post. In addition, they must qualify separately in both parts of the Computer Test.

The final merit list will use the combined marks obtained in the Shorthand Test, Computer Speed Test and Computer Efficiency Test. The interview carries no marks and remains qualifying in nature.

The examination scheme contains three groups:

• Group A: English Shorthand Test
• Group B: Hindi Shorthand Test
• Group C: Computer Test

Candidates must take either Group A or Group B according to their selected post. However, Group C is compulsory for all candidates.

The Computer Test will use the same language as the candidate’s Shorthand Test.

The Speed Test and Efficiency Test carry 50 marks each. Therefore, the complete Computer Test carries 100 marks.

Candidates who qualify for the skill tests may be called for an interview according to merit and the number of vacancies.

The interview:

• Carries no marks
• Remains qualifying in nature
• Assesses general suitability for service
• Does not increase the skill-test score

Candidates who fail to appear for the interview may lose their opportunity for selection.

The Rajasthan High Court will prepare the merit list using the total marks secured in:

• Shorthand Test
• Computer Speed Test
• Computer Efficiency Test
