IB MTS Final Merit List 2026

The IB MTS Final Merit List 2026 shows the outcome of the selection process.

The Intelligence Bureau follows the official exam rules to prepare the merit list. Tier 1 marks play the main role in deciding final merit.

However, candidates must also pass Tier 2. In addition, they must meet all other job requirements.

How Does the Merit List Work?

The selection process follows these rules:

• Candidates must meet the minimum Tier 1 marks.
• The authority checks their Tier 1 scores.
• Applicants must also pass Tier 2.
• Tier 2 carries 50 marks.
• Candidates need at least 20 marks in Tier 2.
• Final merit depends on Tier 1 scores, subject to Tier 2 qualification.
• Selected candidates must complete the required checks.

Therefore, passing an exam does not guarantee a job.

IB MTS Result 2026 Important Dates

Candidates should know the key dates of the recruitment process.

The table below gives a quick timeline.

For new updates, visit the official website regularly.

IB MTS Tier 1 Result 2026

The Ministry of Home Affairs announced the Tier 1 result on 13 April 2026.

Earlier, candidates took the Tier 1 exam on 27 January 2026.

After checking the scores, the authority chose eligible candidates for Tier 2.

The exam included 100 questions for 100 marks.

Moreover, the recruitment rules allowed the authority to call around 10 times the number of vacancies for Tier 2, subject to the stated conditions.

However, passing Tier 1 alone did not ensure final selection.

IB MTS Selection Process 2026

The Intelligence Bureau follows a two-stage written exam process for MTS posts.

First, candidates take the Tier 1 computer-based exam. Next, eligible applicants appear for Tier 2.

After both exams, the authority completes the required checks.

Tier 1 Exam Pattern

Tier 1 included 100 multiple-choice questions.

Each correct answer carried one mark.

Key Details:

• Exam mode: Online
• Total questions: 100
• Total marks: 100
• Duration: 60 minutes
• Negative marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer

Candidates had to manage their time across four sections.

Also, wrong answers reduced their total scores.

Tier 2 Exam Pattern

Tier 2 tests basic English and writing skills.

The exam covers grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing.

Candidates must score at least 20 out of 50 marks.

However, Tier 2 marks do not add to the final merit score.

Instead, the authority uses Tier 1 scores to rank candidates who pass Tier 2.

Document Checks and Appointment

After the exams, the Intelligence Bureau may call selected candidates for further checks.

These steps may include:

• Checking school certificates
• Verifying identity documents
• Reviewing category certificates
• Checking medical fitness
• Completing other job requirements

The official exam scheme does not include a separate interview.

Therefore, candidates should follow the latest MHA instructions.

IB MTS Tier 1 Qualifying Marks 2026

The recruitment notice sets minimum marks for each category.

These marks help decide basic exam eligibility.

For example, strong competition may increase the marks needed for selection.

Therefore, candidates should not treat these scores as a guarantee of selection.

IB MTS Marks Normalisation 2026

Normalisation helps compare marks when an exam takes place in different shifts.

Sometimes, one shift may have harder questions than another. As a result, candidates may face different levels of difficulty.

The normalisation method helps reduce these differences.

Why Does Normalisation Matter?

The process helps the authority compare candidates fairly.

For this reason, a candidate’s final score may differ from the raw score.

The Intelligence Bureau follows the rules in the recruitment notice.

Therefore, candidates should check official marks instead of relying on unofficial estimates.

What Happens After IB MTS Final Result 2026?

Candidates who qualify for final selection should prepare for the next steps.

First, read the official notice carefully. Then, organise your documents.
