Home » Parag Jain Appointed as New RAW Chief: Brings Decades of Intelligence Experience

In a major development, the Narendra Modi-led government has appointed Parag Jain, a 1989-batch IPS officer from the Punjab cadre, as the new Secretary of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). Jain will officially assume office on Monday, June 30, succeeding Ravi Sinha, whose tenure concludes after a relatively low-profile term.

Currently serving as the head of the Aviation Research Centre (ARC), Parag Jain has been instrumental in key intelligence missions. Notably, under his leadership, the ARC played a crucial role during Operation Sindoor, gathering critical intelligence on Pakistan’s military activities.

With a distinguished career spanning over three decades, Jain brings a wealth of experience in both domestic and international intelligence operations. He has previously served as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Chandigarh, and has represented India on diplomatic assignments in Canada and Sri Lanka, showcasing his expertise on global intelligence and security affairs.

Jain has also held important positions in Jammu and Kashmir, where he significantly contributed to the Centre’s counter-terrorism initiatives in the conflict-prone region. His strategic insights and on-ground experience in volatile areas are expected to shape India’s external intelligence framework in the coming years.

As he takes charge of India’s premier foreign intelligence agency, Parag Jain is anticipated to infuse a new vision and direction into RAW, especially in the face of evolving global threats and regional security.
