Government to Launch FASTag-Based Annual Pass for Private Vehicles Starting August 15, 2025

In a move to enhance the convenience of road travel, the Union Government has announced the launch of a FASTag-based annual pass for private vehicle owners. Priced at Rs 3,000, the pass will be available starting August 15, 2025, and is aimed at streamlining toll payments on national highways across India.

According to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, the new pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips, whichever limit is reached first. The annual pass is exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles, including cars, jeeps, and vans, and will not be applicable for commercial vehicles.

“In a transformative step towards hassle-free highway travel, we are introducing a FASTag-based annual pass to promote smooth, cost-effective journeys across the country,” Gadkari shared in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

To make the process user-friendly, a dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon be available on the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app, as well as on the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
