Home » India Strikes Back After Pakistan’s Drone and Missile Attacks

The tension between India and Pakistan has risen sharply after Pakistan launched drones and missiles at Indian military sites during the night of May 7–8, 2025. In response, the Indian Armed Forces carried out precise strikes on Pakistan’s air defence systems, destroying one in Lahore, according to a statement from India’s Ministry of Defence.

What Happened?

On the night of May 7, Pakistan tried to hit several Indian Air Force bases using drones and missiles. Locations like Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Pathankot, Bathinda, and Bhuj were among the targets. But thanks to India’s Integrated Counter Drone and Air Defence Systems, all of these attacks were blocked.

Indian authorities also recovered debris from the attacks, confirming they came from Pakistan.

India’s Response: Operation Sindoor

India responded with a strong and focused military operation called Operation Sindoor. This operation was carried out in the early hours of May 8 and aimed at terrorist facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

According to Indian officials:

  • The operation was based on solid intelligence.
  • It specifically targeted terror camps and air defence systems.
  • One major air defence system in Lahore was completely destroyed.

Satellite Images Show Damage

Satellite images released by Maxar Technologies show serious damage to key locations in Pakistan, including:

  • Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur
  • Terrorist facilities in Muridke

These sites were reportedly being used by terror groups responsible for recent attacks in India.

Border Violence Continues

Meanwhile, Pakistan has increased firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in areas like Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. Mortar and artillery fire from the Pakistani side has killed 16 civilians, including women and children.

In response, India has also fired back to stop the unprovoked attacks and protect its people.

Conclusion

The situation between India and Pakistan has become very tense. Both sides have exchanged military strikes, leading to serious damage and loss of lives. India says it acted only in self-defence and to protect its citizens after repeated terror attacks. The global community is watching closely and urging both countries to avoid further violence.
